Most reamers are stamped from metal or moulded in factories. This one is hand-thrown in Piran - a fluted ceramic head with eight pointed ridges, joined to a coloured handle hand-stamped with a small heart-and-circles motif. Heavy enough to sit stable on the counter, light enough to twist in one hand. The glaze tells you which kitchen it came from.
Why this matters
Most ceramics on a shelf today were stamped from moulds in factories - same shape, same weight, same surface. This one was made by hand in Piran, glazed by hand with colour sourced locally, and fired in a single small kiln by the Adriatic.
01
Slight wobble of the rim. Fingerprint on the foot. The evidence of the maker stays - that's the point.
02
Adriatic Cobalt comes from the sea at dawn. Sečovlje Salt from the pale ponds. Olive Grove from the terraced hills. Every glaze named for a place in Piran.

Lots of little shops in Piran sell ceramic souvenirs, but these are truly unique. We walked past them several times and finally gave in. The artist is passionate, and it shows.

A lovely little shop with amazing handmade ceramics. We took our memories of Piran home with us. The owner is also very kind.

◆ Trimming the foot · Studio in Piran
Notes · 02 · How it's made
Each piece takes shape in Piran - pulled on the wheel or formed at the bench. No moulds, no shortcuts - just clay, hands, and Mediterranean light pouring through the studio windows.
Notes · 03 · Built for daily use
Dishwasher- and food-safe. Handmade stoneware is stronger than you'd think - it holds heat, resists chips, and the glaze only deepens with daily handling.

◆ Olive Grove glaze · daily life, undisplayed
